Member Spotlight : Amy Renfroe

Another beautiful Wednesday morning on the Journey page means another beautiful spotlight! Today we are celebrating and showing our gratitude for one of our faithful and loving Journey members, Amy Renfroe!

  • How long have you been coming to The Journey? John and I have been coming to the Journey for 10 years this month.
  • Where do you volunteer at The Journey? I have been volunteering with Education Connection since 2013 and I have been the coordinator since 2014. John and I have also helped with FPNO and we currently serve in the cafe.
  • Where are you from? How long have you lived in TX (if from out of state)? I grew up in Kansas (near Kansas City), but I moved to Texas as soon as I could and we have lived here for almost 31 years.
  • Please tell us about your family: My husband John serves with me in the cafe and has been part of the men’s group. We have been married for almost 31 years and we have two grown children. Victoria just got married to her husband, Nathan in May and they live in Colorado. John and his wife, Josie live in Wisconsin.
  • Favorite Bible verse: Every year I pick a Bible verse to study and meditate on as often as I can. This year my verse is Psalms 37:7 Be Still and know that I am God.
  • What are some of your hobbies? I enjoy almost anything crafty! I love to sew, knit, and crochet and I recently bought a Cricut and love making all kinds of designs with it.
  • Favorite book? (besides the Bible!) I love to read and I have two favorites (well, maybe three): To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas, and The Screwtape Letters by CS Lewis.
  • Favorite movie? My favorite movie is “It’s a Wonderful Life” and has been since I was a teenager. I just love that moment where George finally “gets” how important his life is and how many people he influenced.
  • Favorite football team? I love football and always enjoy rooting for my college team, Kansas State University Wildcats.

Thank you to Amy (and John) for your willingness and love for serving; we love seeing you in the cafe each month! If you would like to join Amy’s great team and help read to some of the kiddos at Akin Elementary for even just 30 minutes a week (or as your schedule allows), please click HERE. Thank you for all that you do, Amy!
