Who’s ready for a Wednesday Spotlight? Today we get to know more about Liz. She does so much for the Journey and we love this family!

  • Position at The Journey? Journey Kids, Journey Women, and Executive Board.
  • How long have you been coming to The Journey? 8 years.
  • Where are you from? Home is where the Navy sends you! My Dad is from Boerne, TX, but he was in the Navy my entire childhood, and then I joined the Navy (26 years and going strong: midshipman, active duty, and now reservist). I lived up and down the East Coast, the Philippines, and HI. I moved to TX in 2004.
  • Tell us about your family: I’ve been married to my best friend, Chris, for 12.5 years. He’s a follower of Jesus, visionary, community-builder, musician, computer geek, math whiz, and mechanic. God blessed us with 3 children, and together is our favorite place to be! We’re homeschoolers and enjoy playing games, reading, watching movies, and doing things outside.
  • Favorite Bible verse: Hebrews 12:1-2, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”
  • What are some of your hobbies? Reading, swimming, biking, running, hiking, almost anything that is outside and active.
  • Favorite vacation you’ve taken? It’s impossible to pick. Either a road trip to hike the Grand Canyon with Chris and my cousins or a road trip through Germany, Switzerland, and Italy with the same group. Honorable mention goes to a road trip with Chris from Germany, to Austria, to Hungary, to Poland, to the Czech Republic, and then back to Germany.
  • Favorite movie? The Princess Bride (no contest).
  • Favorite meal? Chilean sea bass or sushi.
  • Share an embarrassing or silly moment – When the Captain of my ship asked me to be the Ship’s Navigator, all I could think about was my terrible sense of direction and how my Mom used to ask me which way to go at an intersection…and then turn the opposite way! Thankfully, I’m much better with charts than maps
